Books VS Movies

All this time the hardest part for me has been choosing the best between books and movies. Being a movie enthusiast and book lover I always find myself in real dilemma when i have to choose sides. Well here is a little piece on books vs movies.

Round 1. FIGHT !!!!
Books are easier in a sense you can carry them wherever you want. Indulge in it any moment you feel like it.No need to power it. No extra expense of sound system, display screen etc. Movies on the other hand need all those and it would be awful to watch Spielberg when you take a dump. "Critical Hit, 140 damage" Books

Round 2. FIGHT !!!!!
Movies give you an exact view about the plot, setting and various emotions backed by soundtracks. While watching a movie you can submerge in it keeping the setting as it is. You can analyze the raw emotions which gives you the thrills and chills. When ot terms of books everything is your own. The writer mentions the setting but you have visualize it yourself and for me that is painful."Counter Hit,120 damage" Movies.

Big Bosses

People judge movies based on their earnings. The more it makes the better it is. That is the common concept but i think different. Until and unless you have seen that movie you have no right to make speculations about it. Still here are top 5 grosser s of all time.

1. Avatar (2009) $2,781,505,847
2. Titanic (1997) $1,835,300,000
3. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) $1,129,219,252
4. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006) $1,065,896,541
5. Toy Story 3 (2010) $1,062,984,497

Genres on Movies

Adventure Animation Biography
Comedy Crime Documentary
Western Fantasy Film-Noir
History Horror Musical
Mystery Drama Romance
Sci-Fi Thriller Action
War

These are the popular genres that movies are based upon. It doesn't matter which genre you prefer as long as movies mean life to you.

Judging Movies

These are the awards that recognize movies for what they are.

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences aka OSCARS
British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA)
Cannes International Film Festival
American Film Institute (AFI)
London Film Critics Circle
Online Film Critics Society (OFCS)
FIPRESCI (Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique) or International Film Critics Award given by the International Federation of Film Critic

Among them OFCS is an online ranking site where genuine critics give movie reviews. For me OFCS has been much helpful.

Great Reforms In Movies

Talkies
The landmark talkie was "The Jazz Singer," premiered October 6, 1927, but it is essentially a silent film (about 75%) which occasionally breaks into songs, plus one monologue and one dialogue segment. The first feature film to have dialogue all the way through (notice the qualifiers here) was "Lights of New York" (1928).

Colour
Development of Kinemacolor, where both filming and projection were done through red and green filters. The film went through the red filter and green filter successively, one filter after the other. Smith's A VISIT TO THE SEASIDE (1908), an eight-minute short, was the first commercial film. The public first saw the process in 1909, in London.

Best Directors

Here is my list of greatest directors to me.

Steven Spielberg

Inghar Bergman
Quentin Trantino
Guy Ritchie.
Check out some of their movies you will be baffled.Literally.

Greatest Ever

The Oxbow Incident
Singing In The Rain
Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels
12 Angry Men
The Good The Bad and The Ugly.
The Godfather Trilogy
Gone with the Wind
Double Indemnity
A beautiful Mind
The Shawshank Redemption

This is my personal list of movies that have to be watched at any cost. No matter what genre you prefer if you enjoy movies you ought to watch them.

Movies

I strongly believe that movies have changed our lifestyle. Drastically. For our each and every emotion we have movies to describe it.Angry or happy, sad or sober we refer to movies for guidance. Great movies along the millennium have amazed us. Here is my list of movies for my frequent emotions.

Happy: Some Like It Hot (1959)
Angry: Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998)
Sad: Singing in the Rain (1952)
 High: Sweet and Lowdown (1999)
 Wow: 12 Angry Men (1957)

As you may have noticed these movies do not exactly coincide with the mentioned emotions. Well that's the point. Don't listen to "Gloomy Sunday" when your girlfriend ditches you after leaving church on sunday. See it's easy to be happy and movies help a lot. Hell lot.
